Justus Gaob ǁGaroëb (born December 16, 1942 in Omaruru , South West Africa ) is a Namibian politician of the United Democratic Front of Namibia (UDF) and a traditional leader of the Damara .

ǁGaroëb completed his secondary school at the Augustineum in Okahandja and then studied at the University of South Africa .

He had been a member of Damararat since 1971 and became council chairman in 1977 after the death of David ǁGoreseb . In 1982 he became the incumbent traditional leader of the Damara, in 1993 he finally took over this office.

During the Namibian struggle for independence in the 1980s, the Damara Council initially worked closely with SWAPO , but in 1989, under the leadership of ǁGaroëb, the ethnically-oriented independent UDF was founded, of which he was party chairman until 2013.

ǁGaroëb became a member of the Constituent Assembly in 1989 - along with three party colleagues - and a member of the National Assembly from 1990 to 2015 .

During his political career he was heavily involved in constitutional affairs and a democratic multi-party system. In the presidential elections in Namibia in 1999 , 2004 and 2009 he ran for the office of President .

ǁGaroëb is married and lives in Khorixas in the Kunene region .
