Henkes has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2011 and the FIS since 2015 . In 2015 he finished third in the US Championships and second in the halfpipe the following year. At the 2016 Snowboard World Championships in Yabuli , he achieved 36th place in slopestyle. He made his debut in the World Cup in December 2016 in Copper Mountain , which he finished in 17th place in the halfpipe. At the Snowboard World Championships 2017 in the Sierra Nevada he came in 38th place in Slopestyle and 14th in Big Air. At the end of March 2017 he won the silver medal in Slopestyle at the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2017 in Špindlerův Mlýn . At the Winter X Games 2018 in Aspen he finished 14th in Slopestyle and at the Winter X Games 2019 in seventh place in Slopestyle. In February 2019 he won the bronze medal in slopestyle at the World Championships in Park City . In the following month he reached in Mammoth with the second place in the Slopestyle his first podium in the World Cup and the second place in the Slopestyle World Cup. In the 209/20 season he came with four top ten finishes, including third place in Mammoth and in Calgary in Slopestyle, eighth in the Freestyle and Big Air World Cup and fourth in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2020 , he finished fifth in the slopestyle.
