Justus Ludwig Olthoff

Justus Ludwig Olthoff , also von Olthoff , (born January 18, 1659 in Schwerin ; † 1720 ) was the mayor of Stralsund and royal district administrator and councilor in Swedish Pomerania .

Life

Justus Ludwig Olthoff was the son of Lucas Olthoff, ducal Mecklenburg superintendent of the Schwerin church district. He was enrolled at the University of Rostock in 1671 . In 1677 he submitted a dissertation to Konrad Samuel Schurzfleisch at the University of Wittenberg .

In 1685 he was city secretary in Stralsund, and in 1686 lawyer for the Swedish courts in Pomerania . In 1692 he became a member of the city council of Stralsund and vice syndic of the city. That same year he was at the University of Greifswald to Dr. iur. doctorate and assessor of the Stralsund consistory .

As a representative of the Pomeranian estates , he attended the funeral of the Swedish King Charles XI in 1697 . as well as at the coronation of Charles XII. part. 1701 he became mayor in Stralsund, 1702 royal Swedish district administrator. From 1703 to 1709 he was a municipal deputy of the matriculation commission, which was in charge of the Swedish land survey of Western Pomerania .

On March 22, 1707 he was appointed a councilor and on May 4 of the same year raised to the Swedish nobility.

Justus Ludwig Olthoff was first married to Ilsabe Engelbrecht and, from 1699, was married to Juliane Coch for the second time. Juliane Coch brought a son into the family from her marriage to Christian Ehrenfried Charisius . Christian Ehrenfried Charisius von Olthoff , Swedish government official, post director and theater writer, had the addition of "von Olthoff" since his stepfather was raised to the nobility.

A half-brother of Justus Ludwig, Carl Otto Olthof (f), was a pastor in Parchim .
