Justus Philipp Meyenberg

Justus Philipp Meyenberg (born July 21, 1642 in Clausthal ; † December 26, 1709 ibid) was a German Protestant theologian.

The son of councilor Sebastian Meyenberg and Magarethe Wahner had attended the city school in his home town and had lessons from private teachers. Then he attended school in Goslar and the collegiate school in Walkenried . In 1665 he moved to the University of Jena . Here he attended the philosophical and theological lectures of Johannes Musaeus , Johann Ernst Gerhard the Elder , Erhard Weigel and Friedemann Bechmann .

In 1667 he acquired the degree of master's degree in philosophy. In 1668 he became pastor in Elbingerode and in 1695 in Osterode am Harz . After the death of Martin Chilian Stisser († 1707), he was in the July 1708 general superintendent of the General Diocese Grubenhagen and on the resin , which he remained until his death.

Meyenberg married on September 20, 1670 in Elbingerode Eleonora Sophia, the daughter of Andreas Bornholtz, the princely Palatine official director and Schösser in Quedlinburg. There were twelve children from the marriage, seven of which died before their father. From the children we know:

  • Christian Gottlieb Meyenberg, lawyer
  • Johann Lust Ludwig Meyenberg, physician
  • Johann Andreas Meyenberg, attended the collegiate school in Ilfeld
  • Justina Elisabeth Meyenberg, married. with Heinrich Joachim Brauns (grandfather of Gottlieb Johann August Brauns )
