Jytte Borberg

Jytte Borberg (born July 16, 1917 in Romanshorn , Switzerland as Jytte Erichsen ; † February 25, 2007 in Rungstedlund , Denmark ) was a Danish writer .

Life

Jytte Borberg was born in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. In 1921 the family emigrated to the Danish city of Aalborg . She trained as a laboratory technician and married the psychiatrist Allan Borberg in 1939. She moved from place to place because of her husband's work until 1968, when he finally became chief psychiatrist in Viborg , where she settled with their two sons and daughter. After her husband's death in 1979, she moved to Fjaltring , a village on the North Sea.

Borberg made her debut as a writer with Vindebroen in 1968 at the age of almost 51. Her second novel, Orange , published in 1972, was published in 1975 by the East German publisher Volk und Welt for the in-house book rich spectrum as her only book to date , after a translation by Ursula Gunsilius . Thematically, she focused on women and their fate. With Eline Bessers læretid (1976) and Det bedste og det værste, Eline Besser til det sidste (1977), she published two historical novels about maids who lived in Denmark at the turn of the century. She has received several grants and prizes for her work, including the renowned Critics' Prize in 1996 .

Borberg died on February 25, 2007 at the age of 89. She left a daughter, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
