Kálmán Kalocsay
Kálmán Kalocsay (born October 6, 1891 in Abaújszántó ; † February 27, 1976 in Budapest ), whose work was also published under the pseudonyms CER Bumy, Kopar, Alex Kay, K. Stelov, Malice Pik, Peter Peneter, is considered one of the most important Esperanto poet and translator, who also contributed a lot to the development of the planned language . The doctor worked full-time as an infectologist at the Budapest hospital.
In his youth, Kaloscay learned both Ido and Esperanto, but then decided on the latter because it contained more poetic potential in his eyes. In 1921 his first volume of poetry appeared in Esperanto, which was to be followed by a few more. In the 1920s and 1930s, Kalocsay led the so-called “ Budapest School ”, a group of writers, through the publication of the renowned magazine “ Literatura Mondo ” .
In addition to his lyrical works, Kálmán Kalocsay also wrote several books on literature and linguistic theory, a grammar and an encyclopedia of Esperanto. Together with Gaston Waringhien , Kalocsay wrote the “Parnasa Gvidlibro”, a guide for writers, and the “Plena Analiza Gramatiko”, the standard reference work for Esperanto grammar for a long time.
