Abaújszántó is a Hungarian town in the county Gönc in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén .
Geographical location
Abaújszántó is located in northern Hungary , 35 kilometers northeast of the Miskolc county seat .
Viticulture
Abaújszántó is one of the 28 wine-growing communities in the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region , officially Tokaj-hegyaljai borvidék (Tokaj Wine Region) . One of the most important sweet wines in the world, the Tokaj, is produced there . The wine region, and with it Abaújszántó, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002 .

Among the Jews deported from Abaújszántó in 1944 was the family of Zahavicsku Szász, who was fourteen at the time . A memorial was erected in 1948, which was desecrated in 1951.
