Vizsoly is a Hungarian community in the county Gönc in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén .
Geographical location
Vizsoly is located in northern Hungary , about 45 kilometers northeast of the Miskolc county seat on the left bank of the Hernád River . Neighboring communities are Korlát , Vilmány , Novajidrány and Hernádcéce .
history
The name of the village appears for the first time in 1215 as Vislu or Visili . In the Middle Ages, the town usually de possessed individual board of the Kingdom of Hungary .
In the second half of the 16th century, the Supreme Judge of Hungary ( Hungarian országbíró) Stephan Báthory de Ecsed (* 1555, † 1605) and his wife Euphrosina Homonnay, nee. Extend sovereignty in Vizsoly. Since both promoted the Reformation , they set up a printing house in Vizsoly with the ulterior motive of printing Reformation books here.
In 1588, the Polish printer Bálint Mantskovits opened a printing house here. In this office the first Hungarian Bible translated by Gáspár Károlyi was printed in an edition of 700 copies. The first edition appeared in July 1590.
One of about 20 surviving copies is in the reformed church of Vizsoly, which was renovated after 1960 and to which a small Bible museum is attached.

The road no. 3713 runs through Vizsoly. The Korlát-Vizsoly station south of the village is connected to the railway line from Abaújszántó to Hidasnémeti .
