The Kåreseten is a 1,810  m high mountain with a flattened peak in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises 1.5 km south of the rocky island and immediately southwest of Daykovaya Peak at the northern end of the western Petermann chain in the Wohlthat massif .

The mountain was discovered and mapped during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping based on aerial photographs and surveys was carried out during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). The Norwegian name is named after Kåre J. Hansen, meteorologist for the Norwegian expedition.
