Leyment is located about 40 kilometers northeast of Lyon in the Côtière region south of the Dombes .

Leyment is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Château-Gaillard in the north, Saint-Denis-en-Bugey in the northeast, Ambutrix and Vaux-en-Bugey in the east, Lagnieu in the south and southeast, Sainte-Julie in the south, Chazey-sur-Ain in the west and south-west and Saint-Maurice-de-Rémens in the north-west. The station is on the Lyon – Genève railway line . The A42 autoroute runs through the municipality .
