Arboys en Bugey is a French commune in the Ain department in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs there to the canton of Belley in the arrondissement of Belley . It was created as Commune nouvelle by a decree of September 29, 2015 with effect from January 1, 2016, by merging the previous municipalities of Arbignieu and Saint-Bois . Since then, these have been Communes déléguées . Arbignieu is the main town (Chef-lieu). Neighboring municipalities are Saint-Germain-les-Paroisses in the northwest, Andert-et-Condon in the north, Belley in the northeast, Brens in the east, Peyrieu in the southeast, Prémeyzel in the south, Groslée-Saint-Benoît in the southwest and Conzieu and Colomieu in the west.
