Bénonces is a French municipality with 298 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement Belley and the Canton Lagnieu (until 2015: Canton Lhuis ).

Bénonces is located about 50 kilometers east-northeast of Lyon in the Côtière landscape in the Rhône Valley .
Bénonces is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Conand in the north, Ordonnaz in the east, Lompnas in the south-east, Seillonnaz in the south, Montagnieu in the south, Serrières-de-Briord in the south-west, Villebois in the west and north-west and Souclin in the north-west.
