It comprises 26 parishes in the Belley arrondissement , and its bureau centralisateur is in Lagnieu . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was expanded to double its size in spring 2015.

Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​182.34 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 0117.
