The Canton of Meximieux is a French constituency in the Ain department in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It comprises 15 municipalities in the arrondissements of Belley and Bourg-en-Bresse , and its bureau centralisateur is in Meximieux . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was changed and expanded in spring 2015.

Until the reorganization, the canton of Meximieux consisted of the 12 municipalities of Bourg-Saint-Christophe , Charnoz-sur-Ain , Faramans , Joyeux , Meximieux , Le Montellier , Pérouges , Rignieux-le-Franc , Saint-Éloi , Saint-Jean-de- Niost , Saint-Maurice-de-Gourdans and Villieu-Loyes-Mollon . Its layout corresponded to an area of 176.27 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 0119.
