The Canton of Miribel is a French constituency in the Ain department in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It encompasses eight municipalities in the Bourg-en-Bresse arrondissement , and its bureau centralisateur is in Miribel . The canton was created in 1982 by splitting off from the canton of Montluel and enlarged in 2015 as part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons.

Until the reorganization, the canton of Miribel consisted of the five municipalities Beynost , Miribel , Neyron , Saint-Maurice-de-Beynost and Thil . Its layout corresponded to an area of 52.63 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 0140.

In what would later become the canton's territory, the number of inhabitants had already risen sharply before the canton was founded in 1982; for example, in 1962 the five municipalities together had only 8,969 inhabitants.
