The Canton of Nantua is a French canton in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It comprises 18 parishes in the Arrondissement of Nantua , its bureau centralisateur is in Nantua . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was expanded in spring 2015.

Until the reorganization, the canton of Nantua consisted of the 12 municipalities of Apremont , Béard-Géovreissiat , Brion , Charix , Lalleyriat , Maillat , Montréal-la-Cluse , Nantua , Les Neyrolles , Le Poizat , Port and Saint-Martin-du-Frêne . Its layout corresponded to an area of 144.98 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 0122.
