The Canton of Oyonnax is a French canton in the Arrondissement Nantua , in the department of Ain and the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The term describes both a historical canton and today's administrative unit. The historic canton emerged in the course of the French Revolution in 1793 and existed for almost 200 years until it was divided into the cantons of Oyonnax-Nord and Oyonnax-Sud in 1982 . The nationwide reorganization of the cantons in March 2015 created an undivided canton of Oyonnax again. In addition to the municipality of Oyonnax, it also includes the municipality of Arbent .
