Lhuis is a French municipality with 889 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement Belley and the Canton Lagnieu (until 2015: Canton Lhuis ). The inhabitants are called Lhuisards .

Lhuis is located about 40 kilometers east-northeast of Lyon in the Côtière on the Rhône , which borders the municipality in the southwest.
Lhuis is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Seillonnaz in the north, Marchamp in the east and northeast, Ambléon in the east, Conzieu in the southeast, Groslée-Saint-Benoît in the south and southeast, Brangues in the south, Saint-Victor-de-Morestel in the southwest, Creys -Mépieu in the west and Briord in the northwest. The A42 autoroute runs through the municipality .
