Ambléon is a French municipality with 111 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the canton of Belley in the arrondissement of Belley and is a member of the Bugey Sud community association .

The community lies at an altitude between 330  m and 940  m . The distance to Belley is about twelve kilometers. The Lac d'Ambléon is a small lake west of Ambléon. The greenish mountain water has a high water quality.

history

The area was already settled at the time of the Roman Empire . When after this era of the Crusades and the colonization of the Middle Ages , the Christianization widespread, this region was under the archbishopric of Vienne , whose Archbishop Desiderius of Vienne ( St. Didier was). St. Didier is still the patron saint of this parish today. Every year on the second Sunday in February a mass is held in his honor in the Chapelle d'Ambléon . The chapel dates from the 13th century.

A manor house from the 16th century, now privately owned, adorns the community as a sight. The surrounding area is suitable for hiking, hunting and fishing.
