Ambérieu-en-Bugey is a French municipality with 14,035 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Ain department in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . She is a member of the Plaine de l'Ain community association .
geography
Ambérieu-en-Bugey is located in the Bugey between Lyon and Geneva , at the entrance of the Albarine into the wide Ain river valley.
The municipality has a train station on the Lyon – Genève railway line , which is served by TER Rhône-Alpes trains. In the northwest is the small military airfield of the same name .

In the hamlet of Les Allymes standing Château des Allymes which since 1960 as historique monument under monument stands. The permanent house Maison-forte de Saint-Germain , also known as Tour de Gy , is also on the French list of monuments . There is also the Les Échelles castle , whose park is managed as a Jardin remarquable .
There are several Catholic churches and chapels in the municipality of Ambérieu-en-Bugey . These include the 19th-century Saint-Symphorien church, the 20th-century Saint Jean-Marie Vianney church and the Notre-Dame de la Côte chapel in the Saint-Germain district, which dates back to the 18th century.
