The area of the 4.80 km² large municipal area includes a section of the Bugey. The main part of the area is taken up by the approximately 1.5 kilometers wide, flat valley plain of the Séran, which flows from northwest to southeast to the Rhone . It enters the wide swampy plain of the Marais de Lavours southeast of Talissieu. In the south, the parish soil extends to the edge of the plateau of Ceyzérieu (up to 320  m ). history

The municipality of Talissieu was inhabited very early. At Ameyzieu remains of a Roman settlement and inscriptions have been found.

In the late 11th century the area came into the possession of the Nantua Monastery , which established a priory here. In the Middle Ages , Talissieu was under the sovereignty of the Counts of Savoy . With the Treaty of Lyon , the village came to France in 1601. The area changed in 1883 when the previously independent municipality of Ameyzieu was incorporated into Talissieu.

Attractions

The village church, built in the neo-Gothic style in the 19th century, stands on the site of the former priory . In addition, remains of the Benedictine priory have been preserved, including the priory's house, which was rebuilt in the 17th century. Talissieu is characterized by a picturesque townscape with narrow streets and old houses, some of which date back to the 14th century. On the slope east of the village rises the Château Froid, which was built as a winery in the 14th century and extensively restored and redesigned in the 17th century.

In Ameyzieu is the Saint-Blaise chapel, built in the 17th century and modified in the 19th century. Also worth seeing are the Maison Collomb and a former mill. The castle of the La Batie family, remodeled in the 19th century, is located near Marlieu.
