The Séran is a river in France that runs in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises in the municipality of Haut Valromey , in the historical province of " Bugey ", generally drains south to southeast, and after 42 kilometers flows into a tributary of the Rhône as a right tributary in the municipality of Cressin-Rochefort . Shortly before its mouth, the Séran passes under a shortcut channel of the Rhône, which branches off from the river at the weir at Lavours .
