The Daykovaya Peak ( Russian Гора Дайковая Gora Daikowaja , German , Dyke mountain ' ) is a distinctive, 1,995 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It projects between the rocky island and the Kåreseten in the western Petermann chain in Wohlthat Mountains on.
The mountain was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping based on aerial photographs and surveys was carried out during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). The descriptive name goes back to a Soviet Antarctic expedition from 1960 to 1961. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this into a partially transcribed form in 1970.
