Kõrkküla is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Aseri ( Aseri vald ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia on the Gulf of Finland .

Description and history

The village has 40 inhabitants (as of 2011). Nature lovers have a wide view of the Baltic Sea from the Klint near Kõrkküla .

Kõrkküla is located on the important road connecting the Estonian capital Tallinn and the border town of Narva . There is a historic stone cross at the edge of the path. It commemorates the Russian boyar Vasily Rosladin , who died there in 1590 in a battle during the Livonian War .
