Cascade in Kõrtsialuse

Kõrtsialuse is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Aseri ( Aseri vald ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia .

Description and history

The village has 38 inhabitants (as of 2011). It is located north of the major road connecting Tallinn and Narva . In the village there is a memorial stone in memory of the Battle of Rannu , which took place on January 16, 1919 during the Estonian War of Freedom between Estonia and Soviet Russia .

Kõrtsialuse is popular with nature lovers for the landscape around the five kilometer long Meriküla oja stream. At Kõrtsialuse it flows like a cascade towards the Klint . From there, when the weather is clear, there is a wide view over the Baltic Sea to the islands of Gogland and Bolshoi Tjuters, which belong to Russia .

Village museum

In the village there is a small museum dedicated to the history and culture of the rural community of Aseri and its villages. There is also a detailed account of the industrialization caused by the historic cement and brick factories in the village of Aseri .
