Köinge is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Halland County and the historical province of Halland .

history

Köinge was a place of justice for several centuries. In the 17th century Köinge was chosen as the place of the Thingstätte of Harde Faurås härad . This established a tradition as the seat of the court that only ended in 1906, when the then regional court was relocated and the court building, which has stood opposite the local cemetery since 1835, also lost its importance. The last execution took place in 1831 and was carried out on the Galgenberg der Harde, the "Galgabjär" located about 800 meters west of the court.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until 1936 there was an inn in Köinge and until a few years ago there was also a delicatessen shop and a bank branch. A petrol station existed in the village until 2007.

From 1894 to 1959 Köinge was a stop on the Falkenberg – Limmared railway line . After the end of the train service, the building served as a post office for a few years; today it is a library with a club room.
