Küf Kaufmann

Küf Kaufmann (born May 6, 1947 in Marx , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a German author , director and cabaret artist of Russian-Jewish origin.

After attending school, the son of a car engineer began studying at the directing faculty of the Leningrad University of Applied Sciences . After graduating, he became a director at the “Karelia” People's Theater in Petrozavodsk . As part of his military service , in 1971 he became director of the “ Red Army Singing and Dance Ensemble ” in Leningrad. He then became a freelance worker for the Leningrad State Radio and Television and for numerous newspapers and magazines. From 1980 to 1990 he worked as a director at the “Leningrad State Music Hall” revue theater .

During a guest performance by the Berlin Friedrichstadtpalast in Leningrad, it was agreed that he should rehearse a joint revue, but when he arrived in Berlin in 1990, the director who had invited him was dismissed and the offer fell. He stayed in Germany anyway, got by with various jobs and brought his family to join him. From 1991 he lived in Leipzig and worked for various companies, including as a freelancer in the Leipziger Volkszeitung as a cartoonist . Between 1997 and 2003 he took part in various television productions and directed various stages in Leipzig . Since 2000 he has had numerous cabaret appearances, including in the Pfeffermühle in Leipzig, the Distel in Berlin , the Herkuleskeule in Dresden and in the New Theater in Halle . He performed with the book author and cabaret artist Bernd-Lutz Lange with the program “Fröhlich & Meschugge” (Saxon and Jewish humor in scenes, songs and stories). In 2003 he became art director of the “ Riverboat-Bühne ” cabaret theater in Leipzig.

Kaufmann has been the chairman of the Israelite Religious Community in Leipzig and a member of the Presidium of the State Association of the Jewish Community in Saxony since 2005. He is also involved in the "Association of Foreign Citizens in the Free State of Saxony eV". He is also a member of the Integration Commission of the Central Council of Jews in Germany and since November 28, 2010 also a member of the Executive Committee of the Central Council. He is also involved in the center of Jewish culture, the so-called Ariowitsch House in Leipzig.

His daughter Ekaterina studied at the "Konrad Wolf" University of Film and Television in Potsdam and works as a singer, composer, producer, writer and translator under the artist name Kat Kaufmann .
