Gallery Forum Wels

The Galerie Forum Wels is the art gallery of the Wels artists' guild in the city of Wels in Upper Austria .

history

1951 in Wels at the initiative of the adult education center Wels with the head of colonel. D. Rudolf Eibl and the chairman of the working group of the Wels artists' association, Professor Adalbert Wille, carried out the exhibition Welser Kunstschaffen . The founding of the Wels artists' guild was initiated and at the same time the artist group Traunviertler Kunst was dissolved.

In 1966, in the Mocnik furniture store in Wels, the artists' guild was able to start the “m” gallery with Helmut Berger as director. The gallery later moved to a converted horse stable in the courtyard of the Hotel Parzer on Kaiser-Josef-Platz and changed the name to Gulden-Galerie . In 1976 the gallery of the city of Wels was started and the exhibition 25 Years of the Wels Artists' Guild was carried out and opened with Werner Wigelbeyer , member of the state parliament and cultural advisor .

In 1978 the Gulden-Galerie was relocated to Haas-Hof on Stadtplatz and began to be named Galerie Forum. In 1988 the premises of the gallery were terminated and the exhibitions were relocated to the council chamber of the market town of Thalheim near Wels . The Forum gallery has been located in the Volksbank building in the city of Wels since 1990 .

In 2002 the exhibition 50 Years of the Wels Artists' Guild was held together with the Wels City Gallery with curator G. Mayer. From 1951 to 2001, 108 guild members were kept in the archive and nearly 300 exhibitions were shown during the period mentioned.
