Kürrenberg is a district or a local district of the city of Mayen in northern Rhineland-Palatinate and was an independent municipality until 1970.

Kürrenberg is about three kilometers northwest of the city center.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1110.

On November 7, 1970, Kürrenberg was incorporated into Mayen.

politics

The local district of Kürrenberg is represented by a local mayor and a local advisory board , which consists of seven members. The mayor is Siegmar Stenner ( SPD ). In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in his office for another five years with a share of the vote of 69.41%.

Infrastructure

Today Kürrenberg has about 1200 inhabitants; a school has existed since 1874, a kindergarten since 1991, and after the primary school moved to a new building in 2000, there is a community center in the old school. There is also a riding stables and a climbing garden.

The state-approved climatic health resort also has a branch of the Kreissparkasse Mayen.
