KC Da Rookee
KC Da Rookee (real name Kirk Cheaviler Douglas , * in Derby , England ) is a British rapper . He achieved greater fame especially in the early 2000s in the German hip-hop scene .
Life
KC Da Rookee began his musical career in the English city of Nottingham . His first band was the Broken English Crew , with whom he appeared as the opening act for the Fugees , Busta Rhymes and Ice-T , among others . He came to Germany for the first time as a player on the basketball team of the British Army. During a stay in Berlin , in addition to the Berlin club scene, he also got to know the ragga artist Mystic Dan , with whom he went on tour after finishing his service. Shortly after his arrival in Germany, he lived in Hanover , later in Berlin and then in Hamburg . In Berlin, KC Da Rookee performed with the hip hop crew KMC and the Harleckinz . In 1998 he was signed to the Hamburg record company Showdown, with whom he released his debut album a year later and his second album in 2001. At that time he collaborated with well-known German hip hop artists such as Samy Deluxe , Afrob , Dj Desue or D-Flame .
In 2006 he left Germany and went back to Nottingham, where he worked as a social worker . He released his third studio album in 2013 on his own label Moroni7 Records .
According to their own statements, KC Da Rookee is Jamaican.
