The Koninklijke Voetbalvereniging Turnhout 148 is a football club from the northern Belgian town of Turnhout with 40,000 inhabitants , which was founded in 1912 as Turnhout Sportvereeniging . The number 148 in the club name is the membership number in the Belgian Football Association that he received in 1926.

In 1921 the club was renamed Football Club Turnhout . After he had received the title of a "royal company" in 1952, it was renamed again, this time to Koninklijke Football Club Turnhout (148) . The current name of the association has been used since 2002.

The club played mostly second rate in its history. In 1931, 1936 and 1963, however, he was promoted to the top division for one year . In 1966, FC Turnhout rose to the third division for the first time for a year. From 1976 to 1990 the club was again third class. Since then, the FC has been commuting between the third and second division, although in 2002 they even had to move into the fourth division. After only one year, however, the rise was successful. In 2009, after six years in third division, he was promoted to the second division again.

The club's better-known former players include the goal- scoring Patrick Goots , who scored 72 goals in 67 league games for FC Turnhout in the two seasons between 1997 and 1999, as well as Salou Ibrahim , who began his professional career here between 2000 and 2004, and the national player and World Cup participant from 1990 Bruno Versavel , who let his professional career end in Turnhout between 2000 and 2007. The best known of the former coaches is the former national player Gérard Plessers , who served in the late 1990s.
