The Columbus steam locomotive was a KFNB locomotive . It was delivered by the William Norris locomotive factory in 1837 and corresponded to the “B” type of the factory with axle formula  2'A.

In contrast to the English (e.g. Austria and Vindobona ) and Belgian (e.g. Saturn ) machines with internal cylinders and cranked drive axles, the Columbus had a completely different structure. It had external cylinders and straight driving axles. This was a decisive advantage for maintenance work. At that time, cranked axles could not be manufactured in Austria. They had to be imported from abroad, which was very expensive due to frequent broken crank axles.

The Columbus was very similar to the Philadelphia , otherwise it had a signal bell behind the chimney based on the American model, but this was no longer installed on later locomotives.

The Columbus was canceled in 1852.
