The locomotives of the KTZ series ТЭ33А (German transcription TE 33A ) of the Kazakh Railroad (KTZ / ҚТЖ) are wide-gauge diesel locomotives with three-phase drive technology, primarily for freight train service on non-electrified lines. The locomotives were manufactured by Lokomotiw qurastyru sauyty ( Kazakh Локомотив құрастыру зауыты ) in Nur-Sultan on the basis of GE's ES44ACi .

history

General Electric (GE) from the USA is a worldwide known group in the field of planning and construction of diesel locomotives. In 2009 a plant was opened in Nur-Sultan , which is a 100% subsidiary of the Kazakh Railway (KTZ). This is where locomotives of the "Evolution" model of the 5th generation are produced, with a gauge of 1520 mm and adapted to the special climatic conditions of Kazakhstan, as well as being specified for the transport of goods in the area of 1520 mm . As a diesel locomotive with electrical power transmission and three-phase drive technology , it was given the corresponding designation ТЭ33А ( TE33A ).

In the period from 2009 to 2014, more than 270 locomotives were produced. 59 of them are in operation in the Almaty region, they completely replace the two-section freight train diesel locomotives of the 2TЭ10M series , and the diesel locomotive park in the region around Ajagös and in the eastern part of the republic was renewed . At the same time, ТЭ33А were manufactured for export.

The new diesel locomotive was designed in accordance with recognized standards and GOST guidelines for railways with a track width of 1520 mm as a six-axle single-section locomotive with a traction motor output of 3,356 kW. The locomotive is powered by a 12-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type GEV 012 . The cylinders of this diesel engine are arranged in a V shape, it has electronic fuel injection and an on-board diagnostic system. Compared to the 2ТЭ10M locomotives, the ТЭ33А has reduced pollutant emissions by more than 40% and the consumption of fuel and oil by more than 17%. The locomotive is equipped with an alternating current generator and it is driven by three-phase traction motors . The advantages are high axle power and reduced maintenance costs, and operation with these drive motors is more reliable than with DC traction motors . The design speed is 120 km / h.

The Dushanbe depot received three locomotives (inventory numbers 0113, 0114, 0175 ), and the Bishkek depot received four diesel locomotives (inventory numbers 0179, 0253, 0269, 0270 ) . Two locomotives were in Mongolia delivered a locomotive is located in Ukraine owned by OAO Ivano-Frankowzement . A diesel locomotive was delivered to Turkmenistan .
