The Lommel SK is a Belgian football club in the town of Lommel .
KVSK United Overpelt-Lommel (KVSK United for short) was founded in 2003 after the SK Lommel association became insolvent . The remains of the association were integrated into the KVV Overpelt-Fabriek.
The abbreviation "KVSK" stands for Koninklijke Voetbalvereniging en Sportkring (German: Königliche Fußballvereinigung und Sportkreis) and is intended to link the merged clubs KVV Overpelt-Fabriek and SK Lommel in the name.
In 2010 KVSK United merged with KFC Racing Mol-Wezel to form Lommel United. In 2017 the club was renamed Lommel SK.
Sporting development
At the end of October 2017, Tom van Imschoot was hired as a coach. With it, the rise of the first division of the amateurs in the successful Division 1B . In the first season there Lommel was at the end of the season in 6th place in the overall table, so that the club had to go into the relegation round. He completed this as third. Therefore, Lommel remained in Division 1B.
Mid June 2019 resigned van Imschoot be coach of SK Lommel, because he as an assistant coach for KRC Genk changed. Icelander Stefan Gislason was signed as his successor. In mid-October 2019, the club had only won one of the first ten games and was second to last on the table. Thereupon Gislason was dismissed as coach and for the rest of the season Peter Maes was hired as the new coach.
At the end of the 2019/20 season, the club was in 6th place in the overall table with one point ahead of the next lower place. After the changed regulations this season, that was enough to stay in the league. At the end of May 2020, Lommel announced that it was not extending the contract with Peter Maes, which ended at the end of the season. Liam Manning was only signed as the new coach in mid-July 2020 . This was previously part of the coaching staff of New York City FC , another club in the City Football Group .

At the end of the 2015/16 season, Frans Luyckx resigned as chairman of the club. His successor was Paul Kerkhofs .
