action

Sunil has only one passion - live music. He plays the trumpet himself. His father wants to employ him in an auto repair shop after he graduates from college, but Sunil has other plans. Once again he failed the exam, but with an unexpected trick he can deceive his father. He founded a music group with his friends and they are looking for a breakthrough in Chinatown - a sophisticated, but also notorious, club in the city.

Sunil's only other passion is Anna, the female lead singer of the band that Sunil fell in love with. But Chris, the band's guitarist, is also in love with her and Sunil knows that. He does his best to keep Chris away from Anna and to win Anna's heart in a desperate moment. He successfully creates a misunderstanding between Chris and Anna. But his success is short, because Anna soon learns the truth about what happened and is shocked by Sunil's audacity.

After Sunil was kicked out of the band, he found out by chance that the group were supposed to give a concert in Chinatown, a pub with a dubious character and meeting place for the city's criminal underworld. With his courageous intervention, the performance succeeds and Anna forgives him. He's allowed to go back to the band. But his father wants to expel him after he learns that he has presented him with a false exam and in fact failed again. Only with a lot of intercession from the pastor can his father be changed.

The story takes another turn when Sunils' parents decide to marry their son to a rich girl of their choice. The marriage between Sunil and Anna is then determined. Sunil is overjoyed but witnesses a conversation between Anna and Chris. Out of love for Anna, he renounces the marriage and even becomes her best man. Still worried, he leaves the party and sits down at the roadside. There a pretty girl (Juhi Chawla) speaks to him and asks him for directions. Since she cannot make sense of his directions, he accompanies her to her destination and they disappear into the night.

criticism

At Videoworld.de, the critics judge: “Shahrukh Khan was still at the beginning of his career, when he stole the show from all co-stars in 1994 in his showcase role , the charming useless, in this hardly particularly original, but always lively and cheerful romantic comedy and musical Triangle story from Kundan Shah's workshop ("Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro"). Opulent musical scenes and various slapstick interludes undisturbed a good-humored 150-minute escape from reality for romantic fans of all ages. "
