After the overthrow of the government under Ömer Kalyoncu , Hüseyin Özgürgün was tasked with forming the 26th government of the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus . In the parliamentary elections in 2013, the UBP had received 18 of the 50 seats in the Assembly of the Republic and formed a grand coalition with the Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi , but the coalition fell when the UBP left. The Ulusal Birlik Partisi and Democrat Parti were able to agree on a coalition with the four independent MPs .
