Louis Wipf

Louis Victor Wipf (born August 4, 1910 in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur , France , † May 19, 1998 in Goussonville ) was a French production manager and film producer who had been involved in the production of several screen classics.

Live and act

Louis Wipf came to film in the 1930s and worked there several times before he was hired as production manager for the port and seafarers drama barges immediately before the outbreak of World War II . The German occupation prevented Wipf from becoming more active; it was only after 1945 that he was able to work regularly as a production manager and, less often, as a film producer. In the next four decades, Wipf oversaw numerous top productions in his country in these areas, including classics such as Teufel im Leib, Lohn der Angst , Der Fall Maurizius , Rot und Schwarz , Babette Goes to War , The Truth and the all-star productions Brennt Paris? and The Night of the Generals . "His" stars included almost the entire star ranks of French entertainment cinema, including Gérard Philipe , Michèle Morgan , Yves Montand , Jean Gabin , Anthony Perkins , Ingrid Bergman , Brigitte Bardot and Romy Schneider . Shortly before his 80th birthday, Louis Wipf retired into private life.
