Cabinet Jawara VII

The Jawara VII cabinet was formed in The Gambia on April 29, 1992 by President Dawda Jawara of the People's Progressive Party ( PPP ) . The Cabinet replaced the sixth Jawara Cabinet . It was up to the bloodless coup of Lieutenant Yahya Jammeh on 22 July 1994 in office. This was followed by the formation of a four-member Provisional Governing Council of the Patriotic Armed Forces chaired by Jammeh, who on July 26, 1994 appointed himself president and formed a military government .

In the presidential elections on April 29, 1992 , President Jawara, who had been in office since April 24, 1970, ran again for the office of head of state. Next to him, Sheriff Dibba from the National Convention Party (NCP), Assan Musa Camara from the Gambian People's Party (GPP), Lamin Bojang from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Sidia Jatta from the People's Democratic Organization for Independence and Socialism applied (PDOIS) four other candidates. Jawara was re-elected with 117,549 votes (58.5 percent), well ahead of Dibba (44,639 votes, 22.2 percent) and Camara (16,287 votes, 8.1 percent), who had held several ministerial offices as former members of the PPP and both were also vice presidents of Jawaras. Bojang (11,999 votes, 6 percent) and Jatta (10,543 votes, 5.2 percent) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

In the House of Representatives elections that took place at the same time , Jawara's PPP emerged as the strongest force with 109,059 votes (54.2 percent) and won 25 of the 36 parliamentary seats. The NCP won 45,953 votes (22.9 percent) and had six MPs, while the GPP received 13,937 votes (6.9 percent) and two MPs. Three more seats went to independent candidates who received a total of 15,331 votes (7.6 percent).
