Assan Musa Camara GCRG (born April 21, 1923 in Mansajang Kunda , † September 15, 2013 in Banjul ) was a Gambian politician.

Live and act

Camara was a member of the Gambia cabinet under President Dawda Jawara as second foreign minister from 1967 to 1974. He served in the Gambian People's Party , which was banned after the 1994 military coup .

He stood for election in the presidential election of 1987 , but received only 13.7 percent of the votes cast. In the presidential election of 1992 he received 8.0 percent of the vote. In both elections he was the third strongest candidate.

Assan Musa Camara died in September 2013 and was honored with an act of state; he was buried in the Old Jeshwang Cemetery in Kanifing .
