Kacio Fonseca da Silva Freitas (born May 13, 1994 in Leopoldina ) is a Brazilian racing cyclist . He has been the dominant driver in his country in the short-term disciplines on the track since the mid-2010s.

Athletic career

Kacio Freitas won his first national title as a junior in road cycling : in 2010 he won the individual time trial and 2011 in the road race .

In 2011 Freitas started - still as a junior - at the Pan American Championships and won silver in the team sprint and bronze in the scratch . At the South American Games in 2014 he finished third in the team sprint together with Dieferson Borges and Flávio Cipriano . In 2015 he was third in the Keirin at the Pan American Championships . In the same year he won bronze in the team sprint at the Pan-American Games together with Cipriano and Hugo Vasconcellos . Since 2015 he has won a total of twelve Brazilian championship titles in sprint , keirin and in the 1000-meter time trial ( as of 2019 ).

Honors

In December 2018, Kacio Freitas was awarded the O Prêmio Brasil Olímpico as the best track cyclist in the country at the Teatro Bradesco in Rio de Janeiro .
