Kai Ohrem

Kai Ohrem (born September 20, 1978 in Düren ) is a German theater director .

School and study

1998 Ohrem passed the Baccalaureate at the school citadel of the city of Jülich . In 2000 he started studying comparative literature and musicology at the Free University and the Humboldt University in Berlin as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation , which he finished in 2003 in favor of theater work.

Professional background

  • 2001 collaboration with the Polish director Krystian Lupa in his production of Robert Musil's Die Schwärmer at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. There was another collaboration with Krystian Lupa in 2003 when he staged Dea Lohers Klara's relationships at TR Warszawa.
  • 2003 to 2005 assistant director at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg: regular collaboration with directors Michael Thalheimer, Andreas Kriegenburg and Stephan Kimmig.
  • Since 2005 freelance director and guest lecturer for drama at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and the 007 drama department of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
  • Since 2011 university professor for acting at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
