Kai von Lewinski

Kai von Lewinski (* 1970 in Gießen ) is a German lawyer and professor at the University of Passau .

Life

Lewinski studied after school and military service law and later history in Heidelberg , Berlin and Freiburg . This was followed by a legal traineeship and a doctorate with Karin Nehlsen-von Stryk on a German law topic. From 2000 to 2004 he worked as a lawyer , first in Frankfurt am Main and later in Berlin at Lovells , an international law firm . Since 2002 he has also been a research assistant at the Institute for Legal Law at Humboldt University . In 2004 he became a habilitation candidate with Michael Kloepfer , also at Humboldt University. After his habilitation on a financial and constitutional law topic in 2010, he was a professor and for a short time 2013/14 scientific director of the data protection foundation in Leipzig .

Since 2014 he has held the chair for public law , media and information law at the University of Passau (successor to Ralf Müller-Terpitz ). A law clinic is attached to his chair .

In 2000 Lewinski took part in the World Cup for Lawyers in Marrakech.

research

Lewinski's research areas are information law, in particular media and data protection law , as well as constitutional law with a focus on financial law. In addition, he also publishes on legal issues. He advocates a consultant perspective for teaching.
