Kaiji: Jinsei Gyakuten Game ( Jap. カイジ人生逆転ゲーム, kaiji: Jinsei Gyakuten Gemu , dt "kaiji: Life Applicable game.") Is a live-action of the first part of the manga Tobaku Mokushiroku kaiji of Nobuyuki Fukumoto directed by Toya Satō . The theme music It's all too much comes from YUI .
The film premiered in Japan in October 2009 , distributed by the Tōhō , and grossed 2.25 billion yen (€ 18 million) by January 2010.

The eternal loser and do-it-all Kaiji is haunted one day by the beautiful Endo, who has come to collect a debt from him for the sum of which he had vouched for in a long-forgotten time. After he is unable to repay this debt, which has grown from 300,000 yen to over 2 million yen due to the interest, Endo persuades him to try to win the money in a single night on board the luxury ship "Espoir". All participants who are heavily in debt and hope for the same miracle as Kaiji only find out what game it is on board: a modified form of rock-paper-scissors, which is decided by means of a card duel. But in order to be able to play, the participants first have to borrow money again at horrendous interest rates. On the other hand, in the end, if they win, they can keep the excess money after deducting their debts.
After being tricked by one of the participants, Kaiji manages to win almost at the last second, but an inattention by his partner Ishida leads to his being taken to an underground labor camp, where he is supposed to work off his debts for the next 15 years. The only way out is the "way of the brave man", for which Kaiji volunteers immediately, again without knowing the rules of the game in advance. This time, the participants should simply exchange a voucher for 10 million yen in room 5014 of the Starside Hotel for cash. What sounds simple has only one catch. The hotel is not yet finished and the only access to this room is an electrified steel girder at a dizzy height, the fall of which you will most certainly not survive. Kaiji makes it this time too, but again his social streak throws a spanner in the works. After he has promised one of the participants to hand over his daughter's money from the voucher and Tonegawa refuses to accept this voucher, Hyōdō grants him another game: E-Card. But Tonegawa doesn't play fair and Kaiji has to ask the now degraded Endo for help. With her capital and his cunning, he challenges Tonegawa one last time.

The film from 2009, which is based on the bestseller (over 11 million copies sold) of the mangaka Nobuyuki Fukumoto, is advertised abroad with the fact that the two main actors from the Death Note real films star. While Light Yagami actor Tatsuya Fujiwara plays a slightly tearful Itō Kaiji again in the lead role, L actor Ken'ichi Matsuyama plays a supporting role. Yūki Amami was the youngest actress in a male leading role in Takarazuka Revue and was nominated for the Japanese Academy Award in 2002 for the male role of Hikaru Genji in Sennen no Koi: Hikaru Genji Monogatari , so that the role of the money shark Endo was nominated with a woman was surprising, but the character was portrayed appropriately.
