description

Vegetative characteristics

Kalanchoe subrosulata is a perennial , completely bare, yellowish green plant that reaches heights of growth of up to 65 centimeters. Its slender, upright, pedicel-round shoots have a diameter of up to 4 millimeters at their base. The leaves, which are more or less densely packed in rosettes, are sessile or have a short stalk. The leaf stalk, furrowed on the top, is up to 7 millimeters long. The membranous, narrow to very broadly elliptical or obverse lanceolate to broadly obovate leaf blade is up to 10.5 inches long and 4 inches wide. Its tip is blunt to slightly pointed, the base wedge-shaped. The leaf margin is more or less whole.

Generative characteristics

The loose inflorescence consists of few-flowered, ebenstäußigen cymes 3-12 centimeters in length. The upright flowers are on 2 to 5 millimeter long peduncles . Your calyx tube is 0.5 to 0.8 millimeters long. The somewhat narrow triangular calyx lobes are 1.5 to 3 millimeters long and 1 to 1.2 millimeters wide. The yellow, cylindrical corolla tube is enlarged at its base and 8 to 10 millimeters long. Their elliptical to obovate, blunt to slightly pointed, spreading corolla lobes are about 4 millimeters long and 2.8 millimeters wide. The stamens are attached above the center of the corolla tube and do not protrude from the flower. The elongated anthers are 0.5 to 0.7 millimeters long. The linear nectar flakes have a length of 1.5 to 2.3 millimeters. The lanceolate carpel has a length of 4 to 5 millimeters. The stylus is about 1.2 millimeters long.

The elongated seeds reach a length of about 0.8 millimeters.

Systematics and distribution

Kalanchoe subrosulata is distributed in the south-west of Somalia and in the north-east of Kenya in the bushland on shallow, red soils, usually on limestone at heights of 350 to 1020 meters.

The first description by Mats Thulin was published in 1993.
