Location of the Kalar (Кала́р) in the catchment area of ​​the Witim

The Kalar ( Russian Кала́р ) is a right tributary of the Witim in the Transbaikalia region in southeast Siberia .

The Kalar has its source in the Udokan Mountains in the east of the Stanowoi Highlands . In the upper reaches the river bears the name Tschina ( Чина ). It flows east first, turns south and finally flows west to the Witim. The Kalar Mountains run north of the lower reaches of the Kalar, the Jankan Mountains south. The Kalar has a length of 511 km. Its catchment area covers 17,400 km². The river is ice-covered between mid-October and mid-May.
