Kaliema Antomarchi

Kaliema Antomarchi Ortega (born April 25, 1988 ) is a Cuban judoka . In 2017 she was third in the light heavyweight championship, in the weight class up to 78 kilograms.

Antomarchi won her first Cuban championship title in 2009, more followed in 2015, 2016 and 2017. In 2009 she won the title at the Pan American Championships. In July 2009 she won bronze at the Universiade in Belgrade . At the 2009 World Championships , she reached seventh place. In 2011 and 2012 she finished second behind Yalennis Castillo at the Cuban championships . In 2013 at the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro , Antomarchi reached the semi-finals and finished fifth after losing to Marhinde Verkerk from the Netherlands and Audrey Tcheuméo from France . In 2015 and 2016 Antomarchi won bronze at the Pan-American Championships, in 2017 she reached the final and won silver behind the Brazilian Samanta Soares . At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, Antomarchi lost to the Japanese Mami Umeki in the quarterfinals . Antomarchi won a bronze medal with victories in the round of hope against the Italian Assunta Galeone and the Japanese Ruika Sato . In 2018 she won the Pan American Championships and the Central American and Caribbean Games . In 2019 she lost to the Brazilian Mayra Aguiar in the final of the Pan American Championships . Four months later, Aguiar also won the 2019 Pan American Games final against Antomarchi. At the World Championships in Tokyo Antomarchi was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Briton Natalie Powell . Five weeks later, Antomarchi and Powell also met in the final of the Grand Slam tournament in Brasília , this time the Cuban won.
