Audrey Tcheuméo (born April 20, 1990 in Bondy ) is a French judoka . She won two Olympic medals and was world and European champion.

Athletic career

The 1.77 m tall judoka starts in the light heavyweight division (up to 78 kg). She has been taking part in international tournaments since 2006. In 2008 she was Junior European Champion, at the Junior World Championships in 2008 she lost in the final of the US judoka Kayla Harrison . In 2009 she won the title at both the Junior European Championships and the U23 European Championships. In 2010 she won the French championships for the first time, further titles followed in 2011 and 2014, including 2014 in the heavyweight division.

At the 2011 European Judo Championships in Istanbul she won her first international title in the adult class when she defeated her compatriot Lucie Louette in the final . The 2011 Judo World Championships took place in Paris. In the semifinals she won over Kayla Harrison and in the final over the Japanese Akari Ogata . In 2012 she lost to the Hungarian Abigél Joó in the final of the European Championships in Chelyabinsk . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Tcheuméo lost in the semifinals to the British Gemma Gibbons , and she won the battle for bronze against Abigél Joó.

In 2013 Tcheuméo lost in the semifinals of the European Championships in Budapest to Slovenian Anamari Velenšek , after another defeat against Dutch Marhinde Verkerk , Tcheunéo finished fifth. With the French team she won the silver medal in the team competition. At the 2013 World Championships in Rio de Janeiro , she lost to the Canadian Cathérine Roberge in the quarter-finals , but then fought her way through to the bronze medal with two wins in the hope round . The following year, the 2014 European Championships took place in Montpellier. In front of his home crowd, Tcheuméo won both individual and team competitions. At the 2014 World Championships in Chelyabinsk, Tcheuméo lost to the Brazilian Mayra Aguiar in the final , and the French team won the team competition two days later. In 2015, Tcheuméo finished fifth at both the European and World Championships .

In 2016 she won the title at the European Championships in Kazan by beating Guusje Steenhuis from the Netherlands in the final . In the semifinals of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Audrey Tcheuméo defeated the Brazilian Mayra Aguiar. In the final, the American Kayla Harrison won and the French received the silver medal. At the 2017 European Championships in Warsaw , Tcheuméo won the final against Steenhuis. Four months later, she finished seventh at the World Championships in Budapest . In the final of the 2018 European Championships in Tel Aviv , Madeleine Malonga and Audrey Tcheuméo faced two French women, Malonga won the title.
