Jocelyne Triadou

Jocelyne Triadou (born May 31, 1954 ) is a former French judoka . She won the first world light heavyweight title and was a five-time European champion.

Athletic career

Jocelyne Triadou competed in the middleweight division until 1977, the weight class up to 66 kilograms. At the French championships in 1975 she finished second behind Paulette Fouillet . At the end of 1975, the first European championships for women were held in Munich . Here, too, Fouillet won the final ahead of Triadou. In 1976 Jocelyne Triadou won her first title at the French championships. At the European Championships in Vienna in 1976 , she lost again in the final against Fouillet. In 1977 Triadou won the French championships in both middleweight and open class. At the European Championships in Arlon in 1977 Triadou retired in her first middleweight fight against the Swiss Verena Rothacher . In the open class, she won the title by beating Austria's Maria Theresia Schroth in the final .

From 1978 Triadou fought in the light heavyweight division, the weight class up to 72 kilograms. From 1978 to 1982 she won five championship titles in this weight class. At the European Championships in Cologne in 1978 she reached the final in the open class and received the silver medal behind Verena Rothacher. The following year, she won her first light heavyweight title at the 1979 European Championships in Kerkrade by beating Judith Salzmann from Switzerland in the final . In 1980 Triadou won the final of the European Championships in Udine by beating the Belgian Ingrid Berghmans in the final . At the end of November 1980, New York City hosted the first World Judo Championships for women. The French women won a medal in the competitions in each of the eight weight classes. Triadou won the title in the final against the German Barbara Claßen . At the European Championships in Madrid in 1981 Triadou and Claßen met again in the final and the French won again. Triadou also won the final against Claßen at the European Championships in Oslo in 1982 . At the World Championships in Paris in 1982, she lost to Ingrid Berghmans in the quarterfinals of the light heavyweight division, but won bronze by defeating the Dutchwoman Jolanda van Meggelen . In the open class, Triadou lost to the Japanese Hiromi Tateishi in the quarterfinals . Triadou won her second bronze medal with a victory over the Yugoslav Marica Arsenović .

After her active career, Triadou worked as a trainer and later technical director of the French Judo Federation. In 2001 she became Chevalier des Ordre national du Mérite , in 2011 she became an Officier.
