The Cameroon Killie ( Aphyosemion cameronense ) is in the waters of West African rainforest in Cameroon , Gabon and Equatorial Guinea beheimateter, color splendid representatives of killifish . The species is the type species of the subgenus Mesoaphyosemion .

features

Males are 4.5 to 5 cm long, females remain slightly smaller with a length of 4 to 4.5 cm. The different subspecies and populations differ mainly in their coloring and drawing. Males are brown with a darker back and lighter belly and a more or less broad blue-green iridescent band on the sides, females are gray-brown with dark red spots.

Way of life

The species occurs in small rainforest streams, swamps, and the swampy banks of larger rivers. It lives mainly in areas that are shaded by bank vegetation and spawns in fallen leaves and vegetation. The Cameroonian carp fish is not a seasonal fish .
