geography

The Kamiskotia River has its headwaters east of Kasasway Lake , 75 km southwest of Timmins , at an altitude of 415  m . From there it flows 100 km to the north. There are several lakes along its stretch of river, mainly river widenings , including Kenogaming Lake and Akweskwa Lake . The Kamiskotia River flows from Sudbury into the Cochrane District . After 45 km the Ontario Highway 101 ( Chapleau - Timmins) crosses the river. The Kamiskotia River then flows through Opishing Lake and Dana-Jowsey Lakes Provincial Park . The Kamiskotia River turns east 30 km above the mouth. It takes the Little Kamiskotia River , which drains the Kamiskotia Lake , on the right and finally flows 17 km northwest of the city of Timmins into the Mattagami River, which flows north.
